A slew of new measures has been introduced by the Canadian government to assist international students who have recently graduated from a Canadian university or a post-secondary institution. This year has been hard for a lot of people and IRCC recognizes the hard work put forth by a lot of people including international students to reach their graduation. These measures are being worked into the Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) and will make the transition from studying to working life easy for recent graduates.

Three New PGWP Measures for 2020
Students can complete 50% of their studies online. This is for international students returning to their home countries and continuing their courses via online learning. This measure will stay in place until April 31st, 2021.
Students who started their course online for 8-12 months minimum between the period of May and September 2020 will be allowed to complete the entire course online and be eligible for the PGWP.
Students beginning their courses with a start date between May and September 2020 for one or more of their courses will be allowed to combine the length of their courses to apply for a PGWP, granted that the studies run until April 2021 and at least 50% of the studies are completed in Canada.
The PGWP
One of the best ways to start not only your new life but also your application for permanent residency in Canada is by securing your PGWP. The work permit is valid for three years. Employers can hire someone for any length of time without a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) which makes securing a good job that much easier. You can earn two years of work experience and apply under the Canada experience class immigration program or you may apply for permanent residency directly after graduation, in which case an LMIA becomes more critical to your application.
One of the best ways to secure permanent residency is to study in Canada and receive a PGWP. Nowadays, it’s extremely easy to study online and apply for PR. It shows to the Canadian govt. that you are hard-working and willing to contribute effectively to the Canadian economy. The average salary for someone with a bachelor’s degree is $72,955.
