Earlier visitors migrating to Canada had the validity of staying in Canada for 2 years. Current Super Visa holders have the option to extend their Visas by 5 years which results in Visa Holders being able to stay in Canada for 7 consecutive years.

The new Super Visa applicants will now be allotted a time period of 5 consecutive years in Canada before renewing their Visa status. This feature of the updated Super Visa will be commenced by the Canadian Government from 4^th July 2022.

What are the updates other than Super Visa?

Individuals migrating to Canada through the Super Visa are required to have Medical Insurance.

Earlier only Canadian Insurance Providers were allowed to provide medical insurance to Super Visa holders.

The latest update said that Canada Immigration Minister Sean Fraser will have the authority to designate International Medical Insurance Companies to provide Medical Insurance to Super Visa holders.

The globalization of medical insurance for Super Visa holders has been done in order for the cost of emergency healthcare to not be paid by Canadian Taxpayers.

The IRCC stated that Canada issues approximately 17,000 Super Visas per year under the name of the Parents and Grandparents Program. IRCC declared it will be sharing further details regarding this update in the coming days/weeks.
